Another shock - this time in Finland

Dear blog friends, please take some time to show the people in Finland that we care about what happened to some of their students. I guess that you've all heard the sad news about another tragic shooting spree at a Finnish school today. A gunman has killed 10 people at a college in the town of Kauhajoki before shooting himself. What is going on in this crazy world of ours?
I feel powerless and angry, but at the same time I know that we are in the midst of a spiritual battle and that God's Light Force is winning this fight against the dark powers of evil - whatever people may think and see right now. Jesus is stronger! Let's pray for the people of Finland and please send some words of encouragement to our blog brother Markus. I have many relatives in Finland and this sad news really resonates with me.

Paul,

When I first heard this news my heart went out to those fair people. Please know that our prayers are with you all and I too find horror at the reckless road our civilization is careening down.

Clearly another evidence of "And not only the creation but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies." (Rom. 8:23)

Thank you so much for your kind words. The people in Finland are in schock again. Didn´t we learn anything from the tragedy less than a year ago? (The same kind of shooting happened in Jokela, last November).

We truly need your prayers and I cried after Paul´s note on my blog. It meant so much to me.

Finland is so lost that I wonder will He ever find us in this darkness where we have put ourselves into?

Nihilism is always shocking, but especially so among the young, whose whole lives are usually filled with the purpose of just being deliciously alive. Our own problem with school shootings and then mall shootings made me think that these are a sort of evil trend that must be endured, for they are almost impossible to prevent. But my heart bleeds for you. Prayer is, truly, the only answer in this situation.

My heart goes out to the people of Finland and especially to the parents of the precious children who were taken. I lost my beautiful son, Devin, in June and know the sorrow of losing a life so full of promise and the indescribable anguish of not knowing WHY. All I can do is trust that the Lord can use even this sorrow for ultimate good even though I don’t yet have the answer. I pray the peace that surpasses all understanding to be with those families so they feel God’s loving arms around them in this time.

In His Service,
Calli
