Shining like the Morning Star

I thought about the names for my Lord, like Redeemer, Saviour, Mediator, King of Kings, Alpha & Omega, Lamb of God, the Way, Truth and Life, Son of God, Prince of Peace, Messiah, Bread of Life... "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Matthew 16:15

My Lord is so much more than I can describe. We talked about what he means to us in a meeting of our church and asked each other: "But what about you? Who do you say Jesus is?" Everybody had other great names, descriptions and testimonies.

So... I think Jesus is like a shining diamond. Look at him from different perspectives and you will see new facets, discover new truths, new aspects of his grace. Jesus is brilliant! He is as strong and pure as a precious, shining stone - in him all treasures of wisdom and knowledge can be found. If only I could reflect a little bit of his awesome glory and breathtaking beauty! But a poor reflection - that's what I am.

The diamond is a great analogy. Is that original? I would never have thought of that but it is so true.

No, it's just a reflection of the original! ;-)
I've heard this analogy with regards to TRUTH: the truth is often multi-sided, you have to look from different perspectives and often your description is true, but only based on your specific point-of-view. We can't do the Truth justice by giving a one-sided description.

Paul states that TOGETHER WITH ALL THE SAINTS we will be able to graps how GREAT the love of our Lord is (note that he even mentions 4 dimensions!!)

"And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how (1) wide and (2) long and (3) high and (4) deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:17-21

This post reminded me of one of my favorite songs. "Lord, you are...more precious than silver. Lord, you are...more costly than gold. Lord, you are...more beautiful than diamonds, and nothing I desire compares with you."
