Credit God

Everything comes from God alone. “Everything lives by his power, and everything is for his glory” (Rom. 11:36). The breath you just took? God gave that. The blood that just pulsed through your heart? Credit God. The light by which you read and the brain with which you process? He gave both.
Everything comes from him . . . and exists for him. We exist to exhibit God, to display his glory. We serve as canvases for his brush stroke, papers for his pen, soil for his seeds, glimpses of his image.

New Spring, New Swans

Today is a beautiful Spring day in the Netherlands. Actually, it is the first day with Summer-like temperatures this year (check this Dutch meteorological web site - in Google translate). This week I made this pic of the swans and their new ducklings in the ditch in front of our house. The same swans as last year, the same nest, but with eight new sons or daughters! And yes, the moorhens are back too - again nesting close to their big swan neighbours. Funny. Have a look at my photoblog for some more Spring impressions from the Netherlands. See these April and May 2007 blog entries about these swans and / or click on the labels below.

Stop and see

Pictures above and below: this is something that many people can see when they walk to the railway station in Hoofddorp - like I often do. But maybe we are all too busy to stop, see and enjoy the beauty of our everyday environment? Anyway, I am happy that this beauty caught my eyes today and that I carry a camera cell phone with me wherever I go! (Click on the pics to enlarge)

Christmas lights - looking up

.

I bought a memory card for my new digital camera in the Hague Central Station today. I wanted to make a test picture and this is the object I selected, a window surrounded by curtains of blue christmas lights, hanging down from the roof... You will not notice this when you are in a hurry to catch a train - but I'm glad I did stop, looked up and took this picture!

Maybe you didn't know this yet, but my daughters are cool and funny. Oh yes, and they are beautiful and sweet too. That is not just my opinion as a dad, these are the facts. Click on the pics to enlarge.

Last Sunday (April 15, 2007) I attended a sermon by Rev. Rico Tice in All Souls Church Langham Place, or John Stott's church. You can listen to the same sermon if you click here!

(Of course it's not really John Stott's church, but you'll know what I mean...)

Today winter has finally arrived in Holland!

Today, February 8th, winter has finally arrived in the Netherlands. These pictures were made at 13:00 in my street! I took the camera with me when I had to bring our youngest daughter to school. Not bad for an amateur photographer like me, right? Click pics to enlarge

Twenty years later

I had to supply two pictures for an interview, a picture from my study years and a more recent one. So this is what happens to your face in 20 years time... (pic left is from 1987). But I'm still smiling.

(Look at it this way, getting older is better than the alternative…)
