Now what are you waiting for??

You don't know how many people I've met who have said to me "Keith, I agree that more people need to go to the mission field, but I've never heard God tell me to go." Well, the truth is that God has already told you to go in His Word. In fact, He commands you to go... "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature." ( Mark 16:15) That's right... YOU ARE CALLED! In fact, if you don't go, you need a specific calling from God to stay home. Keith Green

"No one has the right to hear the Gospel twice, while there remains someone who has not heard it once." Oswald J. Smith

Get out of your mind the idea of expecting God to come with compulsions and pleadings. When our Lord called His disciples there was no irresistible compulsion from outside. The quiet passionate insistence of His "Follow Me" was spoken to men with every power wide awake. Oswald Chambers

Here I Am, Send Me (Keith Green)

Oh lord, there’s just so much to be done.
Oh lord, so many souls to be won,
Oh lord, this world is falling apart,
Dying for love from a broken heart.

Here am I, send me, though there’s really not that much I can do.
What I have seems so small, but I want to give it all to you.

Oh lord, you said the harvest was great,
But lord, looks like the workers are late.
Its getting hard to understand,
How they ignore your great command.

Here am I, send me, though you said the ones who labor are few,
Still my heart hears the call, and I wanna give it all to you.

Oh, to reach the ones nobody does,
Give up my pride and even work in the mud,
I wanna be like those who spilled their blood,
And gave it like water to you.

Oh lord, there’s just so much to be done.
Oh lord, so many souls to be won,
It seem this world is falling apart,
Lord wont you send me?

Oh lord, there’s just so much to be done.
Oh lord, so many souls to be won,
Oh lord, this world is falling apart,
Crying for love from a broken heart.

Here am I, send me, though there’s really not that much I can do.
What I have seems so small, but I want to give it all to you.

Here am I, send me,
Though you said the ones you’ve chosen are few,
Still my heart hears you call,
And I wanna give it all to you.

Hi Paul. Did you read Keith Green's book (or I think his wife wrote it) No Compromise? That really challenged me greatly a few years ago and this post reminded me of that. It's amazing how many excuses we put between God and ourselves. CS Lewis writes about that in Till We Have Faces where he describes the central character reading a long justification of all the reasons why she did what she did (and didn't do what she didn't do) until she finally realises that the arguments she believe justify herself actually just reveal the real state of her rebelious heart...

Hi Cori! Good to hear from you. Yes I know about the book, but I haven't read it yet. I do have a DVD with a documentary about Keith Green's life and ministry. I am also a CS Lewis 'fan' (not because of Narnia, but because of all his apologetic writings). You are right, it is our disobedience that is standing between us and our Creator. God is 100% loving AND 100% just. He will not force us to love Him, because love can't be forced. So, we do have a choice to accept or reject Him (and his love). For me it is so hard to accept that many people are living RIGHT NOW without experiencing God's love, grace and forgiveness. We sure have a job to do!
