Lust or Love - which side are you on?

For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

I thought it was well presented and thought provoking especially his comment that Satan doesn't try to make us hate God, he tries to make us forget God... and forget who we are.

Yes, I agree - somebody is trying to make us passive Christians (he can't take us away from our Lord anymore, but he sure tries to steal our joy, distract us and make us inactive by turning our negative feelings of guilt and shame against us). I think Christians should be more open about the struggle to live a holy life. It is NOT easy to walk the narrow path! Of course we want to make a good impression to "the world" and to our brothers & sisters in Christ, but I know that it's not easy to live for Christ in a world filled with temptations and sin!
Last Sunday I was at a Neal Morse concert. I bought a cd and on one of his songs Neal says about Christians singing Holy, Holy, Holy in worship songs: "I KNOW GOD IS HOLY, BUT WHAT ABOUT US?"
That really makes me think! It's great to be SAVED, but we need to be gradualy changed into Christ's likeness and that is also a long and hard spiritual battle - we need to actively resist sin with God's help and maybe we even have to accept that there can be a thorn in our flesh that God doesn't take away on this side of Heaven!
Paul writes, "In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood." Heb. 12:4
I think this video from Life Church clearly shows us that we are not made by God to blindly obey our impulses and desires (because "we are only human"). Thanks for your comment, Carolanne!
