As a new Christian I thought the more I knew about GOD the closer I would be to Him.

As I grew in knowledge I recognised that I didn't know as much as I thought.

Yes, Mike. I think this is true for faith, but also for our 'knowledge'. When I started to study history years ago, I thought that I would become a specialist after 5 years of intensive study. But, as so many students have experienced, I only learned that I know almost nothing.
But A Poor Reflection - that's what I am and that's what I can now see of the splendour of God's wisdom that one day will be fully revealed to us. I can't wait.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Phil 3:12

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
